Goda and the Zoo - Research into our group.

My group and I have decided to use the song ‘Floating Around’ by Goa and the Zoo. Goda and the Zoo are a soul/jazz band, we decided to go for this genre as they are different from the mainstream genres, and we wanted to go for a niche genre as it will appeal to our target audience. The tempo of the song being slow and being more focused on their voice rather than their image.

Goda and the Zoo, consisting of the lead singer (Goda Pereckaite) and her band (Jiri Novotny, Chris Abington & James Buckley) all met at college – The institute of Contemporary Music Performance, where they decided to work together towards their final year project. After finishing and recording their first three songs they received a lot of good feedback from audiences and so decided to carry on with their project to release an EP (Extended Play), which they are working on at the moment.
Goda started attending music school in Lithuania at the age of five and was trained as a pianist for ten years, as she got to the age of fifteen she understood her passion was singing. Before she came to London to study contemporary vocals at the institute of contemporary music performance, she sang jazz duet in Lithuania and participated in a few musicals as the lead act. Goda came to London last year and is now a vocalist and one of the songwriters for Goda & The Zoo, studying Commercial Music Performance at the University of Westminster (1 year degree).
